This wood art piece was created from a California black oak tree that I harvested a short distance from my house. The tree fell down from natural causes during a storm. I used a chainsaw mill to prepare the tree into slabs and dried them for over a year before working on the wood. The fern engraving is based on a photograph I took of a local fern in the Santa Cruz mountains. It is filled with a blue epoxy, and then the entire piece is coated with epoxy to give it a glass like appearance. The back has a frame hanger to hang it from a wall.
The height is about 18″ tall, and 10.5″ wide. It is about 1/2-3/4″ thick. It weighs three pounds.
This is an original unique piece, and will be removed from the store when it is sold.
